It just hit me all of a sudden how Apple didn’t even mention the new Siri or Apple Intelligence features for the Vision Pro despite having amazing hardware.

Those Who Spent $3,499 on Apple’s Vision Pro Probably Won’t get Apple Intelligence and New Siri Features

Apple started the WWDC 2024 keynote with visionOS 2. It comes with a bunch of handy little features that build on top of the initial software release. Needless to say all of those changes are welcome and those looking to spend $3,499 on Apple’s mixed reality headset will be in for a treat.

As we went deep into the opening keynote, Apple Intelligence suddenly became the real star of the show, not everything else. Apple kept on showing demos on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. They were so good and mesmerizing that we completely forgot about the Vision Pro. It almost feels intentional at this point.

Have a presentation so good people will only focus on the topic at hand, nothing else.

Now that the dust has settled, we are starting to learn some things about Apple Intelligence – one being its compatibility. It only works with the iPhone 15 Pro and every other Mac and iPad with at least an M1 chip. I didn’t even realize that the Vision Pro was completely missing from compatibility chart. That device is basically a MacBook strapped to your face and is powered by the M2 chip.

The one place where AI would actually shine is on a mixed reality headset. The ability to summon a virtual assistant using your choice and get things done in a snap, apart from the usual hand and eye gestures is a total bliss. Apple decided to skip AI for Vision Pro altogether.

Though people are debating whether it’s a hardware limitation or something else, it remains to be scene. But, the M2 chip is extremely powerful in Apple’s silicon lineup. Granted, the chip inside the Vision Pro has to do a lot of work, with cameras constantly running for the passthrough experience, head-tracking, eye-tracking, what have you.

Does the headset not have enough firepower to run Siri and its AI features? What makes it infuriating is how Apple’s most expensive product is deprived of the latest technology like that. I hope I’m wrong about this and these features do make it to the Vision Pro later on.
