Apple is apparently working on Apple Intelligence for Vision Pro. But, it’s not coming this year, which doesn’t make this news that bad.
Vision Pro will Get Apple Intelligence, Won’t be Coming to the HomePod Lineup Due to High-End Hardware Requirement
In a rather surprising move, Apple didn’t even mention Apple Intelligence for Vision Pro. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is definitely working on it, but it is not coming this year.
The Vision Pro packs powerful hardware – M2 and R1 chip with 8GB of RAM – and it came as a surprise that Apple’s best feature this year wasn’t coming to its mixed reality headset. Now, this report definitely feels like cold water on a hot summer day as it ensures that Apple is working on bringing Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro, just not this year.
The thing is, Apple wants to make sure its AI features are best fit for a mixed reality environment. The company just doesn’t want to add in the feature and call it a day. It needs proper seal of approval before it makes it onto consumers.
The report goes on further to suggest that the HomePod won’t be getting Apple Intelligence features because of the lackluster hardware. We’re talking about 1GB of RAM per HomePod and that is way too mediocre to run a large language model. But, at the same time, having AI features like this on a HomePod without having a display is pretty useless. A speaker like HomePod is great for Siri commands, nothing else.
We also got wind of news today that Apple is already working on iOS 19, watchOS 12, macOS 16 and visionOS 3.
