A newly announced software update loses its appeal when you find out the hardware you own is no longer supported by it. It’s a painful thing to learn, I understand that completely. However, we all have to find out one day or the other. And today, we shall sit around a camp fire and find out whether or not our Apple Watch works with watchOS 11.

Apple has done a stellar job at supporting Apple Watch models throughout the years but if your model was recently removed from the list – Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5 – it’s nothing to get angry about. There will come a time where people holding on to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will lose software support from Apple, too. It’s fairly normal and that’s how ‘device support’ works.
Given how long Apple supports its hardware, it’s absolutely unnecessary at times to buy the latest and greatest hardware. It’s only worth spending that much money unless you’re committing to its entire lifecycle, otherwise buying a refurbished Apple Watch will serve you the same purpose, except at a way lower cost.
If you’re someone who doesn’t care about the latest features at all yet want an Apple Watch should also check out deals on last year models. You’ll find brand new watches at much, much lower price points and you’ll only be missing features which you’ll never going to use either.
At the time of writing, only the beta of watchOS 11 is available for download, and that too requires a compatible Apple Watch model, obviously. You can either start your watch hunt today or later this year when Apple announces new Apple Watch models. That’s the season of great discounts on older models and you should definitely make use of it.
