Did you buy an Apple MagSafe Charger and wondering if it’s real or fake? Here’s what you need to check on your iPhone.

Did Someone Sell You a Fake MagSafe Charger? You’re Not Sure at All? Do this on You iPhone and Find Out

Fake accessories being passed on as original is very common these days. You will see tons of fake Apple USB-C chargers in the market and consumers can easily be tricked into buying them as they are way too convincing. Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to check whether or not your accessory is fake, I’ve covered one method for a fake USB-C charger only recently, too.

If you recently bought an Apple MagSafe Charger, the one that sticks on the back of your iPhone, and wondering whether it’s fake or not, you’ll be glad to learn that there is a way to find out. I’m not going to ask you to check the quality of printing and look for typos on the packaging since they way gotten way too good lately.

Here’s what you need to do – first of all, plug in your MagSafe charger to a USB-C charger and attach it to the back of your iPhone. Once the charging begins, launch the Settings app, then go to General, tap on About, and then find the Apple MagSafe Charger section. If you see it, you’ve bought yourself an official accessory, if you don’t, it’s definitely a fake no matter what anyone tells you.

I understand Apple accessories can be expensive and sometimes it’s way too tempting to opt for cheaper alternatives. If you’re planning to get a third-party accessory, it’s recommended that you go ahead and read reviews about it first and see how the experience has been like for other buyers. It’s better to skip buying subpar MagSafe chargers and just stick to the good old fashioned wired charging method. A cheap accessory has very high potential to harm your iPhone and that cost of repair is going to be way more than the cheap charger itself.

Having said that, there are a ton of extremely high quality MagSafe chargers available from third party manufacturers that are actually better than Apple’s, too. And way cheaper as well.

If it mimics the official Apple one when it comes to packaging, avoid it instantly. The purpose of this product is to fool you, nothing else.
