You read that right, it’s time to upgrade your old Apple TV if you want to keep on watching Netflix as official support is being dropped at the end of July.

Netflix is Ending Support for its App on 2010 and 2012 Apple TV Models

Apple is sending out emails to customers who currently watch Netflix on 2010 and 2012 Apple TV HD set-top boxes. The email reads as follows:

You’re receiving this email because you’ve used Apple TV (2nd generation) and/or Apple TV (3rd generation) with Netflix in the past. Unfortunately, we’re sunsetting support for these devices on Jul 31, 2024. We know this can be frustrating, but we’re doing this to ensure you maintain the best possible Netflix viewing experience.

While this news might stir some emotions, but do keep in mind that we’re talking about Apple TV models that were released more than 10 years ago. And given how much tabs we keep on the latest hardware from Apple, I’m sure many of us simply forgot about these Apple TV models until this news popped up.

The old Apple TV definitely takes us down a nostalgic path. There was no App Store for it back then, it came with preinstalled apps  one of which was Netflix, obviously. It’s also surprising to see how people managed to hold on to their Apple TV all the way into 2024.

Latest-generation Apple TV 4K model with USB-C Siri Remote.

If your’e planning to upgrade, the latest model is definitely something you should check out. It costs $129, features 4K support, Dolby Vision and a new USB-C rechargeable Siri Remote.

Bet you didn’t see the last one coming, did you?
