watchOS 11 is here and it brings a handful of new features to the table especially to those who love keeping tabs on their health and fitness.
watchOS 11 Finally Lets You Pause Your Activity Rings and Continue Your Streak
There are a bunch of new features in watchOS 11, but I’m only going to talk about the ones people are going to care about the most. Starting off with Activity.
Pause Activity Rings
Ever wanted to take a break from working out but didn’t want to lose your streak? With watchOS 11, you can pause your Activity Rings and continue your streak whenever you want to resume working out. This is perfect for rest days.
Customize Activity Rings
Ever wondered why watchOS doesn’t allow you to customize your Activity Rings for individual days of the week? watchOS 11 introduces a feature that allows you to set different goals for different days. This will help keep you motivated and on track when it comes to fitness goals.
New Vitals App
Apple’s new Vitals app in watchOS 11 gathers all data related to your sleep and puts it under one roof for you to look at. If there are any changes in the way you sleep or if your vitals change, the app will give you suggestions based on those changes.
Training Load
With a new Training Load section in the Activity app on Apple Watch you can get a clear look at the amount of effort you’re putting in your workouts and how it may impact your body with the passage of time. This is a great way to find out if you’re on track, overdoing it or performing under.
New Photos Face
Using machine learning, you can find the perfect photo to use as a watch face. The algorithm will decide which is the best photo and will do the legwork for you. It’s a great way to have the best photo right on the wrist.
Smart Stack
Imagine widgets showing up based on time, location, weather and more. The new Smart Stack does exactly that, so that you get a glimpse of necessary information at the right moment. Again, machine learning at play here.
Tons of New Widgets
With brand new widgets, you can glance at more information at any given time. You now have severe weather alerts, Training Load, Distance, Shazam and more.
Custom Pool Workouts and See What’s Coming
While swimming, Apple Watch will ‘tap’ you on the wrist about the next interval and recovery. You can even create custom workouts and get notified about what’s coming next and how long the current interval is remaining.
Translate
Translate app is now available on the Apple Watch and can be accessed as a widget in the Smart Stack, if you like. Even if you don’t have an iPhone, you can download the supported language and use it for translation. Currently, 20 languages are supported by Translate.
Ultra Wideband Home Keys
Your Apple Watch will automatically unlock a compatible door in your home as your approach it. You don’t have to hold out your watch anymore to do this.
watchOS 11 Release Date
watchOS 11 beta is available to download today and the full and final version of the software will become available later this year in the fall.
