Ever wanted an iPhone that could fold in half? The iPhone Fold is apparently becoming a reality and set for release in 2026.
The Apple iPhone Fold will be Released Alongside the iPhone 18 in 2026, Will Fold Down like the Galaxy Z Flip
Before you get a little too excited about this, there are a few things in this report that might just bring the hype down really fast. First of all, it’s a news out of the supply chain and the source is usually a hit or miss. And, the details available on the ‘iPhone Fold’ is is nothing like what you have in mind.
According to the details provided in the report, Apple has accelerated its plans to launch a folding iPhone and it will have the same dimensions as a regular iPhone when fully deployed. And, since it’s launching in 2026, therefore it will be a part of the iPhone 18 lineup.
Now comes the part that will paint a picture which you don’t want. The iPhone Fold will apparently be a foldable like the Galaxy Z Flip. The top half of the iPhone will fold down into a compact form-factor. There are no details available whether there will be an external display on this iPhone. Hopefully, there is.
There has never been a moment I wanted a report to be completely wrong. I just wish this entire report is false and Apple is working on an iPhone that opens up like the Galaxy Z Fold to reveal a massive display on the inside. Personally, I don’t see any point of a flip phone given how often we use our phones these days. You need to access that display as quickly as possible, not fight to reach it. Instead, a larger display on the inside means you can quickly transform your iPhone into an iPad mini to get serious work done, too.
Given how the foldable market has fumbled as of late and people losing interest real fast, it remains to be seen if Apple is able to change the direction of the wind and get people on board the foldable bandwagon. And I sincerely hope it’s not an overpriced like the Vision Pro, otherwise it will be extremely pointless.
