This one is really interesting. Apparently, Apple is working on a table-top robot which will have Apple Intelligence features built in.
Apple is Set to Take Over Your Home with a Table-Top Robot that Runs Apple Intelligence
Mark Gurman has been reporting on a table-top robot from Apple for quite some time now. Whenever I read about it, it got me confused as to what it might be. In fact, no-one knows what the table-top robot actually is, yet it’s part of Apple’s plan for the home.
However, while the details are sparse on this one, it will indeed feature Apple Intelligence. See, the thing is, the current HomePod hardware is so mediocre, it can’t run Apple Intelligence or the new enhanced Siri features. But, Apple will eventually get hardware inside our home that does. And that hardware is going to be a table-top robot, apparently.
I’m going to do a small speculation here and assume that this robot is a HomePod with a screen that swivels around using powered mechanical parts. Think of the Echo Show 10 and you’ll know what I’m trying to say here.
A device that runs Apple Intelligence, follows you around the room to give you information that you need. A device which you don’t have to lean over in order to see its display. Instead, a display that locks on to you with the information you want.
I understand what I just said sounds way too wild. But, find me any other example of a table-top robot. Apple is not working on a small android that walks around with Apple Intelligence, that’s for sure. The closest thing is a HomePod with a built-in, rotating display. And what do you know, we already have references to such a thing.
Do keep in mind Apple Intelligence is drastically more useful when it is running on something that is connected to a display. There is a chance that the era of Apple’s speaker-only HomePod may come to an end with this.
