Download the Original iPad Wallpaper from 2010 in High Resolution for Your iPhone and iPad
I remember the keynote in which Steve Jobs announced the original iPad. He sat down on a sofa and walked us through the device’s capabilities and showed the world how it’s better than a netbook. Back then, everyone took it as a large iPhone or iPod touch, but when developers started doing their job, things changed, a lot.
What set the iPad aside instantly was the fact that this was the first-ever iOS device with a wallpaper behind the Home Screen. If you can’t recall, Apple only allowed setting the wallpaper on the Lock Screen, not the Home Screen. The iPad changed all that and the app icons had an actual backdrop to hover on. Though it was such a small little change, but in Apple’s world, it was definitely something.
The original iPad wallpaper was reissued in iPadOS 17 in Retina display resolution. Just to give you an idea, the original iPad had a screen resolution of 1,024-by-768 while the wallpaper available today is more than 2,700 pixels wide. Hence, you can fit them on any display you like, not just an iPhone or iPad.
The iPad version of this wallpaper is a square which means it will look perfect in both portrait and landscape orientations. The iPhone version, on the other hand has a lot of headroom so that you can drag it around before getting the perfect fit on the home and lock screens.
Remember, this wallpaper is already a part of iPadOS 17 therefore you don’t have to download it at all. It’s great for those who are still running an older software update on their iPad, have an iPhone or just want the wallpaper on their Mac. As long as you have an iPad running iPadOS 17, you’re all good.
The first ever wallpaper shown on the iPad is now available for download and it is available for both iPhone and iPad right here in high resolution. I could upload the wallpapers here directly but the site would compress it down a lot. I know it’s a little extra effort, but in the end you will walk away with a high quality wallpaper rather than a compressed image.
