iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 beta 3 is out for the iPhone and iPad, and here is everything that is new in the update.
Apple has Changed a Few Things in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 Beta 3 – Here’s Everything that is New and Noteworthy
It’s always an exciting day whenever a new beta update is released and Apple released everything today, including iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 beta 3. And, whenever a new beta comes out, it is always safe to assume that it will be packed with a lot of bug fixes and performance enhancements. While that is true, but in the initial few betas, Apple tends to move things around in the UI, too.
In beta 3 of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, things have definitely changed, if you look closely. I’ve compiled a list of things that are new and what you can expect if you’re planning to install the beta.
Better Support for Dark Icons with Third-Party Apps
With the initial betas, dark mode icons were a little wonky with third-party apps. Now, with beta 3, Apple intelligently turns them dark using several techniques. I’m sure this form of customization will keep on improving over time.
Flashlight UI in Dynamic Island has Improved
If you’re using the flashlight on your iPhone, the interface in the Dynamic Island has been improved. You can still change the brightness and how wide the flashlight should be from this interface. But, it now looks slightly better with bigger graphics compared to before.
RCS Messaging Adds More Clarity
RCS Messaging in Settings now tells the user that RCS uses wireless data. A warning telling the user that ‘cellular network identifiers may be shared with your carrier and its partners’ has been added, too. Nice way of saying iMessage is still supreme when it comes to privacy.
iOS 18 Wallpaper is Now Dynamic
Instead of just being a two-color wallpaper – light and dark – the official iOS 18 wallpaper is now dynamic that changes throughout the day.
Emoji Picker Gets Revamped
Apple has revamped the emoji picker in the keyboard. Now, you can access emoji, Memoji and stickers all in one place.
New ‘Select’ Button in Photos App UI
Want to select multiple photos in the Photos app? There’s now a Select button on the main UI. Just tap on it and start selecting multiple photos and videos.
Improvements to Control Center
Small changes have been made to Control Center. Icons are now easier to read and look at. If there’s a sub-menu for any toggle switch, a small arrow indicates that now.
InSight Now Works in TV+
While watching a movie or TV show using the TV+ service, you can now use InSight, allowing you to get more information about the actors on screen.
New Modem Firmware
This beta includes a brand new modem firmware for the iPhone and iPad. This should improve cellular connections but this will keep on improving as we move towards the finally build.
That’s all everything that’s noteworthy. If I find something new, I’ll add it to this list.
