A new report out of China says that the iPhone 16 Pro will support even faster charging speeds, both wired and using MagSafe.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max Charging Speeds – 40W Wired and 20W Wireless Over MagSafe, According to Report
At the time of writing, the iPhone lineup peaks out at 27W charging speeds using a wired connection and 15W wireless speeds if using MagSafe or Qi2. However, a report out of China says that Apple is looking to give those speeds a boost with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
How fast are we talking here? The report claims Apple is going to introduce 40W of fast wired charging and we can expect speeds of up to 20W using MagSafe. Given the current MagSafe hardware, it is limited to just 15W speeds when paired with a compatible 20W USB-C charger, but if this report is true, it means the official MagSafe charger is getting an upgrade this year.
Rumors have been floating around that the iPhone 16 lineup will feature denser batteries allowing for more capacity and longer lifespan. If this is true, then it makes sense for Apple to take advantage of this and boost the charging speed of the iPhone.
We have been hearing about the iPhone 16 a lot lately. Rumors ranging from the telephoto lens coming to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, from switching to a Samsung camera sensor from Sony, all models featuring A18 chip and so much more. We are just a couple of months from the official announcement and I’m excited to see what Apple has in store for all of us.
