According to a fresh new report, LG Display has stepped into the picture and will be supplying OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone SE 4.
LG Display Jumps in as Supplier of OLED Panels for Upcoming iPhone SE 4, BOE Still Main Supplier of Displays
The report comes from The Elec, and they say the main supplier of displays for iPhone SE 4 is still BOE, a company that has supplied LCD displays for iPhone SE in the past. LG Display has been brought in due to yield and production issues with BOE. Though the main chunk of orders for OLED panels will still come from BOE, but LG Display will step in where BOE falls short.
The iPhone SE 4 is said to be a huge departure in terms of design when compared to the current iPhone SE 3. Instead of using a regular LCD panel, the company has made the jump to OLED and it will be an edge-to-edge display like the latest iPhones. Face ID is also said to be included with the latest iPhone SE, something that was only a part of the flagship lineup – glad to see it coming to the lower-end iPhone model.
USB-C is going to replace Lightning for charging and data transfers. This will make the iPhone SE 4 a far more useful phone to own, especially if you find yourself connecting other devices to your iPhone a lot, such as a camera or a drone to copy videos or photos.
Let’s all just pretend Lightning didn’t even exist from now on.
The iPhone SE is said to be going into mass production in October and will go on sale early next year. It’s unclear when it will become available to buy, but if past iPhone SE releases are anything to go by, we should expect its arrival around March. If you’re been looking into buying an iPhone SE, then you just might want to hold back a little more. That edge-to-edge display, Face ID and USB-C is going to be totally worth the wait.
