OpenAI just launched its search engine called SearchGPT. The way I see it, it could give Apple a massive edge when it comes to Apple Intelligence.
The Long-Awaited SearchGPT Search Engine is Here by OpenAI, How can it Help Apple Intelligence in the Future?
SearchGPT is OpenAI’s first-ever search engine that uses the power of artificial intelligence – based on the GPT-4 model – to search the web for you. Whenever you perform a search, it will give you real-time answers from credible sources ChatGPT-style. That’s great news already, given how artificial intelligence is known to hallucinate answers. Sources are limited for now, but OpenAI has plans to expand its portfolio constantly.
If you have used ChatGPT before, you’ll feel right at home because you can use SearchGPT and ask follow-up questions. You can keep on going for as long as you like until you get the answer you’re looking for. And oh, results can be visual too, which means you’ll get an image or video every now and then to ensure you understand the context of what you’re searching.
You can sign-up for SearchGPT by going to this link. But remember, the slots are extremely limited and chances are high you won’t make it to the list any time soon. But signing up is a great way to take the first step towards SearchGPT.
With that said, I’m now curious into how it all taps into Apple Intelligence, the feature which is set for release on iPhones, iPads and Macs later this year. See, Apple is already tapping into ChatGPT for answers that go beyond the scope of what it is capable of. With SearchGPT now launched as a prototype with impeccable timing, Apple could have access to a brand new search engine, apart from the usual Google and Bing options to search online.
Since OpenAI’s search engine is tailor-made with artificial intelligence in mind, searching stuff online using an iPhone, iPad or Mac can see improvements in ways that just isn’t possible with currently available search engines.
I know this sounds like a long shot, but there is a chance Apple might be waiting for this announcement to come through before bringing Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT to the masses with iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia betas.
Now I’m genuinely curious to see how things will unfold. Apple Intelligence spread across the ecosystem, ChatGPT available on demand and now SearchGPT exists. We live in fun and fantastic times, people.
