PlayStation 1 game emulator for iPhone called ‘Gamma’ received a fantastic update, bringing with it a ton of great features.
Gamma PlayStation 1 Emulator Adds Multiplayer, Cheat Codes, Analog Controls and More in Latest iPhone and iPad Update
There are plenty of great game emulators now available on iPhone and iPad, thanks to Apple’s recent changes to App Store guidelines. With apps like Delta around for playing Game Boy and Nintendo titles on the go, Gamma also exists for playing PlayStation 1 games right on your iPhone and iPad.
Gamma was just updated with great new features including support for multiplayer, cheat codes, improved cover art support for your game library, disc swapping, analog controls and more. If you’ve been using the app for a while, you’re really in for a treat with the latest update.
Multiplayer is the biggest feature added in this update and you can have up to 4 players locally in a game. You can find the relevant settings for this inside the app on how to set it up.
Just like Delta, Gamma also supports external game controllers, and you have the choice to use on-screen and an external one both at the same time. Also, the option to always show the on-screen controller option has been added in this update.
Just like any other game emulator on the iPhone and iPad, you need to find the compatible ROMs yourself. If you know where to look, it won’ the a problem. And given how many websites exist for these things, I’ll be surprised if you can’t get your hands on at least one game.
You can download and install Gamma for iPhone by going to this link. The app is free and you can opt for an ad-free experience if you’re willing to pay a little extra.
It’s truly amazing how apps like Delta and Gamma exist on the iPhone and iPad. This sort of stuff was only previously available to those who were willing to jailbreak their devices or willing to download the app using Safari by installing third-party certificates, which is the riskiest thing you can do on your phone or tablet. Now that it’s all here officially, I’m glad users don’t have to turn to shady means just to enjoy their favorite childhood game.
