This is a big one. According to the latest report, Apple’s 2026 iPad Air and iPad mini are set to get an OLED display upgrade.

Apple’s M6 iPad Air and iPad mini to Feature OLED Displays, Likely Launching in 2026, According to Latest Report

Apple has been putting OLED displays in its product lineup for quite a while now. At the time of writing, the iPhone lineup has been upgraded to OLED, except the iPhone SE. The iPad Pro got its big OLED upgrade with the M4 model. Now, the latest report from The Elec suggests Apple is bringing the display technology to the iPad Air and iPad mini as well.

With the upgrade to OLED, the iPad mini and iPad Air will get a huge boost in terms of display quality. Users will be able to experience deeper blacks, and brighter whites. This makes it the perfect display for viewing HDR content. But, it remains to be seen if these displays offer similar brightness specs compared to the current LED displays or will be brighter.

I believe Apple is going to aim for lowering costs as much as possible and will likely match the display brightness of the current models, but with the advantage of having an insanely high contrast ratio. That’s more than enough, and something which an average user might not even notice.

With an OLED upgrade to iPad, it remains to be seen whether or not it will be enough to give the entire lineup a huge boost in sales. Currently, the iPad Pro lineup is proving to be extremely popular among buyers despite its high price.

My take is a simple one – an average user might not even notice a thing with OLED, just like how no-one cares about ProMotion.

Don’t even try to debate me on this.
