Apple has confirmed in its Q3 2024 earnings call that it is actively working with regulators to bring Apple Intelligence to EU and China.
EU and China will Eventually Get Apple Intelligence, Apple Confirms it is Working with Regulators
Due to regulatory concerns, Apple decided not to bring Apple Intelligence to EU and China this year, at least. With the iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 beta updates, that became evident, too. Even the steps to enable the AI features don’t work in EU and China – Apple has made sure of it.
However, during its earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that it is working with regulatory authorities to bring Apple Intelligence in those regions. Here’s what he had to say:
We’re engaged, as you would guess, with both regulatory bodies that you mentioned. And our objective is to move as fast as we can, obviously, because our objective is always to get features out there for everyone. We have to understand the regulatory requirements before we can commit to doing that and commit a schedule to doing that, but we’re very constructively engaged with both
There’s no time-frame to when these features will become available. But, on a positive note, it’s nice to see Apple is working to bring these features to everyone in EU and China.
Though the initial launch of Apple Intelligence will be in English, but support for more languages will be added as time goes by.
Do keep in mind you need at least an iPhone 15 Pro, iPad with M-series chip or an Apple silicon Mac in order to use these AI features.
