In September, Apple is going to launch the AirPods 4, but two of them instead of just one. Pretty interesting, really.
Apple to Announce Two AirPods 4 Models at Different Price Points and Features Alongside the New iPhone 16
According to a latest report by Bloomberg, Apple is working on a brand new version of AirPods – the AirPods 4 – that will launch later this year with new iPhones. However, instead of launching just one model and call it a day, Apple is going to announce two this year.
One model is going to be the basic one with regular functionality, kinda like the AirPods 2 at this point. The second model will be priced higher and may even feature active noise cancellation. This is very interesting given the AirPods Pro already exist to do that. How is Apple going to pitch the new AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation alongside the AirPods Pro 2?
The thing that is 100% certain is the inclusion of USB-C throughout the lineup. Since iOS 18 is launching this year with exclusive features such as nodding your head to respond to notifications, it’s very likely this feature will make it onto the next AirPods 4 lineup as will for a consistent experience across the board.
I don’t want to sound absurd, but is there a possibility Apple may be streamlining its AirPods lineup by discontinuing the AirPods Pro completely? Because, so far, we haven’t heard anything related to the AirPods Pro 3. It’s either the best kept secret from Apple or entirely something else.
Last but not the least, Apple is going to discontinue the AirPods 2 completely. I know, it’s sad, because they’re the iconic AirPods that made the entire product lineup what it is today. It will be sad to see them go. But, things do come to an end, and it’s safe to say AirPods 2 had a good run, and it’s time for it to pass the torch to the next model.
AirPods 3 will likely be sold at an even lower price point alongside new AirPods. I’m a huge advocate of the third-generation model because they’re severely perfect and exactly the amount of earbuds an Apple fan needs.
