Apple has a bunch of paid services, but the most popular one in the United States is iCloud storage, according to latest data.
Apple’s Paid iCloud Storage Tier is the Most Popular Apple Subscription in the United States
The latest report from CIRP sheds light on which paid Apple service is most popular in the United States. Surprisingly enough, iCloud storage is right at the top with a massive 64% share among Apple users.
The entire data set is actually quite interesting. From the highest to lowest share, here’s the breakdown:
- iCloud – paid (64%)
- Apple Music (42%)
- Apple Podcasts (37%)
- AppleCare – iPad (35%)
- Apple TV (32%)
- Apple News (27%)
- AppleCare – iPhone (17%)
Given how popular the iPhone is, AppleCare is right at the bottom with just 17% share. But, paid Apple Podcasts is at a massive 37%. It means people love listening to their podcasts a little too much. Probably even more than me, which is shocking.
Apple Music sitting comfortably at 42% makes sense since it ties well with the Apple ecosystem.
However, the main star of the show is iCloud storage. It’s amazing to see people investing in it for multiple purposes such as backing up an iPhone and iPad, storing photos and so much more. It also makes switching from one device to the other easier. Just sign in using your Apple Account on a new iPhone or iPad, and everything will be downloaded from Apple’s servers in an instant.
Given how Apple has been selling 16GB, 32GB and 64GB devices for a long time, I’m sure the paid iCloud storage must be extremely popular among those users.
Such data is always interesting. For example, a while back we found out that Apple Watch Ultra is more popular than the cheaper Apple Watch SE. I’m sure even more surprises are on their way as we speak.
