According to a brand new report, the standard iPhone 16 is getting the Action Button while the Pro models are going big on displays.

New Report Reveals New Information Regarding iPhone 16 – Including Dedicated Camera Button, Return of Rose Gold, Larger Displays, More

Mark Gurman is back with his Power On newsletter and it contains interesting information regarding the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. Instead of going into too much detail, I’m going to keep it nice and simple for everyone.

First of all, Apple’s major marketing push for the new iPhones this year is Apple Intelligence. All iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models will get it, including the iPhone 15 Pro models.

The iPhone 16 is getting the Action Button, just like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This will allow users to map the button to anything at all – camera, flashlight, assign a shortcut, you name it. In other words, the silent slider is truly going away this year.

Like a mirrorless camera or DSLR, there’s going to be a dedicated camera button on iPhone 16 Pro. Press it a little and it will lock focus and pressing it all the way down will take a photo. I’m not sure how this is going to be useful, since the Volume Up button already does half the job already on all iPhone models. Maybe it’s something to entice photographers and videographers. We shall see.

This is my favorite part – the iPhone 16 Pro will have a larger display at 6.3-inches, a bump up from the 6.1-inch we’ve been accustomed to for several years. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, will have a massive 6.9-inch display, a big step up from the 6.7-inch display.

According to Gurman, the blue color will be dropped from the Pro lineup and will be replaced by Rose Gold. For a while we’ve been hearing about a bronze-like finish, but precisely hearing ‘Rose Gold’ comes as a slight shocker, to me, at least.

The A18 chip is going to power the new iPhones along with 8GB of RAM. This means the base models are getting a 2GB memory bump compared to the current standard iPhone 15 phones.

That’s a lot of information for one day, really. The thing that got me the most is the bump up in display size. With still a month to go until official announcement, I can’t wait to see what else there is in store.
