The latest from the land of rumors suggests the iPhone 17 will ship with 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB we’ve become acquainted with.
Apple Taking Things Further by Shipping iPhone 17 with 12GB of RAM Next Year
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were first smartphones from Apple to feature 8GB of RAM. The standard models ship with 6GB of RAM. Though 2GB might not seem too much, but it’s enough to leave every older iPhone model with lesser RAM in the dark when it comes to Apple Intelligence.
However, with iPhone 17, Apple is planning to step things up a notch with the inclusion of 12GB of RAM in its phones, according to a report by MacRumors. While the news sounds fantastic, because more RAM is always considered a good thing, but there’s no indication which model will have the 12GB of RAM. Is it the standard model? Is it the Pro model?
Guess we’ll only find out when the iPhone 17 is here, and that phone is more than an year away from now.
Currently, we have the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro to look forward to and Apple is set to announce it on the 9th of September. We can expect the entire lineup to ship with at least 8GB of RAM which is exactly what Apple Intelligence requires.
However, it’s unclear whether Apple will ship the entire lineup with that amount of RAM or bless the Pro lineup with 10GB of it at least. We will only know once the phones are in the hands of reviewers and certain tests are run.
More RAM on the iPhone 16 Pro means the phone will be able to switch between apps and handle Apple Intelligence like a champ. It’s certainly an edge over a device with lesser RAM, but those not using AI features might not even notice a thing.
