It’s not just you – the Mac App Store and Apple Books are currently experiencing an outage.
Apple is Currently Experiencing an Issue with Mac App Store and Apple Books – Services Down for Some Users Only
Apple’s System Status page currently shows Mac App Store and Apple Books in the red. However, Apple says not everyone is affected by the outage. In fact, I just checked and both services are currently working fine at my end. But, if you go through social media, several users around the world report the service is down or partially broken for them.
If, for some reason, both of these key services are down for you, it’s a real outage and Apple has acknowledged it. I’m sure these services will be back online before some of you even realize they’re down.
It is not the first time such an outage has occurred. A little while back the Weather app was down. And as you’d expect, the service was restored as quickly as possible.
Update: Everything’s back online.
Update x2: Looks like Apple’s having a bad day. Now iCloud Mail, iCloud Web Apps and Game Center is experiencing issues.
Update x3: Apple’s services are slowly and gradually coming back online.
