Here’s my quick review of the ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Set for iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods. Spoiler alert: it’s way better than you think.

The ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Wants to be the Only Charger You take on Your Next Trip

Wireless chargers can be frustrating. You have to piece them together to make everything work – if you’ve ever bought a wireless charging pad, you have to get the USB-C charger separately and vice versa. However, some wireless chargers come bundled with each and every single thing in a nifty little package.

ESR’s Qi2 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Set is one such charger that has everything included. In fact, it’s slightly overdone, too. You get the wireless charger itself, cable, USB-C adapter and a fantastic carrying case.

What’s in the Box

Inside the box, you get the foldable wireless charging pad, the Apple Watch charger, a 30W USB-C charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable. Apart from that, you get a carrying case with cutouts inside for keeping everything in place so that nothing rattles against each other while transportation.

Build Quality

Given the price of this charger, I had mixed opinions about the build quality. But, from the carrying case all the way to the charging pad, everything is high quality. However, since I got the white version in for review, I can already tell it’s going to pick up a lot of dirt from everyday use.

Specs for Nerds

The included USB-C charger supports 30W of power output. The Qi2 charging pad supports up to 15W of speeds while charging an iPhone. The Apple Watch charger is Apple-certified and supports 5W of fast charging speeds and the AirPods charging pad also supports 5W of output.

Review

Assembling the charger takes 15 seconds at best. You unfold the charging pad, plug in the Apple Watch charger, plug in the USB-C cable and all of that goes into the 30W USB-C adapter. From here, you just have to place your devices on the designated charging areas to start charging up instantly.

Since this is a Qi2 charger, therefore it uses magnets to hold your iPhone in place. Not only that, it provides 15W of power while charging the iPhone. In my testing, it’s as fast the official MagSafe Charger from Apple. However, I did notice something strange while charging – the Qi2 charging pad remained cool throughout the charging process. That’s obviously a good thing. You want your devices to stay as cool as possible while charging.

Since you’re dealing with magnets here, you can charge your iPhone in landscape mode as well. It’s great for times when you’re watching a movie, TV show, attending a meeting or find yourself in a FaceTime call but running low on battery.

The Apple Watch charger supports fast charging, and if you have anything above the Apple Watch Series 7, it will charge rapidly. Since you can remove the Apple Watch charger and it uses USB-C, you can literally plug it anywhere else to charge your Apple Watch.

There’s a small lid that covers the USB-C connector which you have to remove before plugging the charger into the USB-C port on the charging pad. The lid has built-in magnets which means you can stick that lid on top of the Apple Watch charger instead of losing it by accident. It’s a nice little attention to detail, and I like it.

The best part about this charger is the AirPods charging pad. It has built-in magnets which will perfectly align your MagSafe-compatible AirPods. These magnets are very subtle, too. It’s just enough strength to align the AirPods in place, not forcefully hold it there.

I’ve been testing the charger for over a couple of weeks now and it has been spot-on every single time. It has never ever failed on me once. Best of all, it’s pretty fast for a wireless charger.

And yes, in case you’re wondering, you can use a 30W power bank instead of a USB-C charger to provide power to the charging set. It’s great for times when you don’t want to stick close to a wall outlet and yet want to charge everything up.

Conclusion

The ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Set is a high quality product that wants to be the only charger that goes with you on your next adventure trip. Does it successfully do that? Given how it folds down and includes a nifty carrying case, it surely does.

Priced at $59.99, the price may seem a little steep, but if you build a custom wireless charging ‘kit’ that includes a carrying case, you will come close to that price point anyway. So, why not add a little extra and get this instead? That’s what I would do.
