The official Twitter for Mac app is no longer available on the Mac App Store and has been removed.
Twitter for Mac has been Removed from the Mac App Store, But You Can Download the X for iPad App as an Alternative
After the big X rebrand, the Twitter for Mac app has been lingering in the dark for too long. It was only a matter of time it became completely useless, saw an update of some sort or was removed from the Mac App Store.
Today, X chose option 3 and you can no longer download Twitter for Mac from the App Store.
If you use X a lot on your Mac, then you have been probably using it through Safari. That’s fine, it’s one way to access the social network. However, you can get the complete experience on the desktop by just downloading the X iPad app on your Mac as long as it has Apple silicon inside. You can download it from here.
I have a ton of exciting memories regarding Twitter for Mac. When it was launched, it was one of the most fun apps around. It was quick, it had an amazing design, and best of all, it got the job done. It’s really sad to see it go away like this. But again, all good things eventually go away and replaced by something new – X for iPad being the new (yet old) app. I say ‘yet old’ because it has been available on the Mac for a long time now.
Honestly, I would prefer it if you download and install the X for iPad app at this point. It gives you the full mobile experience, but on the desktop. You get access to all the latest features and since it is Apple silicon optimized, it doesn’t suffer from slowdowns or any other issues.
