The official Snapchat app is now fully native on iPad which means you don’t have to deal with black borders anymore.

Official Snapchat App Adds Full iPad Support, Taking Full Advantage of the Larger Display

Snapchat has been an iPhone-only app since the beginning – a full 13 years. Today, all of that changes with support for iPad. With full support for iPad, the app runs natively on Apple’s tablet without any black borders around the app.

According to Snapchat:

Snapchat now offers native support for iPad! This means that Snapchat will fill an iPad’s full screen, providing you with a larger canvas when capturing Snaps and allowing you to see more friends on the 2nd and 4th tabs.

In terms of features, nothing has changed, except that the app utilizes every pixel on iPad’s display to give you the complete experience. However, there is a small caveat which might be corrected in a future update – the app only works in portrait mode only. If you were hoping to use in landscape orientation, you might have you to look past that. At least for now.

You’ve waited this long for an iPad app, I don’t think the portrait-only orientation should be a problem. Also, since the now supports iPad, I believe the best iPad to use it on is the iPad mini, nothing else. It’s the iPad to turn towards when it comes to social media apps.

I find it hilarious that key Meta apps don’t support iPad to this day for no real reason. Given how many iPad users there are around the world and the popularity of the tablet only going up, there’s still no Instagram and Threads app on Apple’s tablet with native support.

The reason for no Instagram app is a funny one, too. According to the CEO of Instagram a long time ago, “It’s still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority.” I don’t buy it at all. But hopefully, Snapchat might give the push Instagram needs for a native app.

You can download the official Snapchat app directly on your iPad for free. Just tap on this link and you’ll be taken straight to the App Store.
