Please don’t dunk your iPhone in water just to test it out. But, a YouTube video exists that will eject water out of your iPhone speaker.
A 2-Minute Long Video Promises to Eject Water from Your iPhone Speaker – Does it Work? It Actually Does
Though the iPhone is waterproof, with the modern lineup now having an IP68 rating against dust and water, but the speaker grille will hold water inside for a long time. According to research done by David Pierce from TheVerge and iFixit, there is a solution for that, and it works, too.
Whenever you manage to dunk your iPhone into water, all you have to do is play a YouTube video and it will eject the water right out of the speaker grille. However, do keep in mind that’s where the whole story ends. You have to leave the iPhone under a fan overnight to dry out completely.
But hey, if you don’t like water inside your iPhone speaker grille, this is the video you need to play, that’s all:
At the time of writing, the video has 45 million views, which is crazy. It would have been a huge bummer if so many people were turning to something that didn’t work, but now that it’s proven that it does, you know where to go as well.
Remember, only turn to this solution when your iPhone is actually suffering from a splash of water and you can’t clear out the speakers. Do not, I repeat, do not, submerge your iPhone in water just to test this out. If you have an iPhone that had a third-party battery replacement or repair, there’s a chance the water shielding does not work at all. Submerging the iPhone in the name of science may just ruin your iPhone completely.
Do keep in mind the Apple Watch has a similar feature where the device will play sound at different frequencies to quickly eject water out of the speaker and it works instantly, too. The above video works on the same principle.
