Straight from Apple’s mouth, nowhere else – iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max feature 8GB of RAM.

It Doesn’t Get Any More Official than This – Apple Executive Confirms iPhone 16 Lineup has 8GB of RAM

First it was a rumor, then it was code found in Xcode, now it’s straight from an Apple executive – all iPhone 16 models feature 8GB of RAM, not a megabyte more or less. And this information was shared by Apple’s Senior Vice President Hardware Technologies, Johny Srouji in an interview given to Geekerwan.

While the interview is extensive, but if you were always on the fence about the amount of RAM these new phones have, it’s 8GB. You don’t get extra RAM if you go for the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max. This amount of memory is necessary if you want to run a large language model on-device, Apple Intelligence in this case. It takes a ton of processing power and memory, and thankfully, iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 lineup has both.

I highly recommend watching the entire interview below. You’ll find a great bunch of interesting things in here, and I’m not going to spoil any of it.

It’s interesting Apple is giving every single iPhone the same amount of RAM this year. The upcoming iPhone SE is also rumored to feature 8GB of memory for Apple Intelligence, too. However, things get slightly complicated when you buy into the iPad Pro.

The moment you bump up the storage to 1TB or 2TB, Apple also bumps up the RAM to 16GB, a full 8GB extra. And, to make things even more interesting, the M4 Mac lineup is expected to ship with 16GB of RAM in all base storage models. So, does that mean 8GB isn’t going to stick around for long on Apple devices? There is a chance it might be true, because one rumor does suggest Apple is going to ship the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 12GB of RAM.

Only time will tell what amount of memory Apple is going to settle on with future devices. For now, let’s just enjoy the fact that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are shipping with 8GB of memory instead of 6GB like last year, all thanks to Apple Intelligence.
