A new report says Apple is working on Vision Pro 2 with a bunch of upgrades such as M5 chip and Apple Intelligence support.
Vision Pro 2 will be a Massive Upgrade in Terms of Performance with the M5 Chip, But Will be Similar in Design
At the time of writing, all the hype surrounds the cheaper Vision headset. Apple has been actively tapping into several suppliers for parts as well, with lower-resolution displays being a key component to bring the overall price down.
In fact, Apple has reportedly shelved the Vision Pro completely just to focus on the cheaper headset.
However, Ming-Chi Kuo has chimed in with a report related to the Vision Pro 2. In his report, he suggests Apple is working on a new Vision Pro with M5 chip which is going to be a massive upgrade over the current M2-powered model.
With the power of M5, comes another feature which the Vision Pro will embrace – Apple Intelligence. Though Apple hasn’t said a word regarding Apple Intelligence for the current Vision Pro, though it may be coming, but I’ll be completely bamboozled if Apple brings AI features to the newer headset and not the current one.
In terms of design, nothing will change. The Vision Pro 2 will look similar to the current model which is not a bad thing at all since it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. However, I do expect the new Vision Pro to add refinements in terms of durability.
Interestingly, the new Vision Pro will go into mass production in the second half of 2025. This means it may start shipping to consumers at the end of next year, or in early 2026.
Now, this is very strange, given Apple is currently focusing on the cheaper Vision headset. Does this mean Apple is working on both headsets at the same time? Given today’s report, it seems as though Apple may launch the cheaper headset and the new one together. If that’s the case, it makes me really glad.
