Get ready for some slow-motion action as both iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to feature video recording at 4K 120fps.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will Allow you to Record 4K Video at 120fps

The iPhone getting a camera upgrade every year is the most obvious thing at this point. But what those upgrades are always a mystery at times. However, with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, we are getting a massive treat, especially if you love shooting video.

According to information obtained by 9to5Mac, the new iPhones will be able to shoot 4K video at 120fps. Both Pro models will be able to shoot in this resolution and frame-rate, allowing you to really capture the most cinematic video possible using just your smartphone.

Some people end up thinking a higher frame-rate means nothing. However, once you record at a higher frame-rate and slow the footage down, you enter the realm of cinematic slow motion video. Mix that up with speed ramps, and you’ll be shooting some of the finest video on the planet.

While this news is great and all, but there’s a small hiccup. It appears as though the 120fps option is only available to users when you connect an external drive to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. You may not be able to shoot 120fps internally. But again, not everyone is going to be shooting in this frame-rate anyway, so allowing it externally is a good compromise.

The report goes into further detail saying that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro are both 8K capable smartphones but the feature isn’t enabled and will be limited to just 4K video recording. Personally, I will take far better 4K video over 8K any time of the day.

Also, Apple is going to introduce a new JPEG-XL format for photos along with the ability to pause and resume video recording.

At this point, we know a lot about the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. From the 256GB base storage (probably) to Gold Titanium, we’re constantly learning something new. However, with the official event set for Monday, it’s not long until everything is made official.
