The new 7A294 firmware update for AirPods Pro 2 is now available for download with all the new iOS 18 features.
New 7A294 Update for AirPods Pro Now Available with iOS 18 Exclusive Features Including Voice Isolation
At WWDC 2024, Apple announced a brand new set of features that would be coming to the AirPods Pro 2. Today, Apple has released the new 7A294 firmware update for the AirPods Pro that bring all the new features to the masses ahead of next week’s iOS 18 release.
As ever, there’s no way to force the update onto the AirPods Pro. But, what you can do is this – leave the AirPods Pro and your iPhone on charge next to each other. Some say it helps speed up the update process, though I believe it does nothing and new firmware just downloads and installs at its own pace.
You can check if you received the new update by going to Settings > AirPods and check the firmware version here. If it says 7A294, then you’ve received the new update already and are ready to take advantage of everything new Apple has baked into the update. However, you need iOS 18 for all of this. If you already have the iOS 18 RC installed, then you should be good to go.
The latest update for AirPods Pro 2 includes a brand new way to interact with Siri. Instead of audibly saying yes or no, you can just nod your head and do everything as discreetly as possible. This is an extremely important thing, especially if you don’t like talking to Siri in public.
Second great feature coming to AirPods Pro 2 is Voice Isolation. This was previously exclusive to the iPhone itself and Apple has managed to bring it to AirPods Pro. With the feature enabled, the person on the other end will only hear your voice and not the background noise during a call.
Again, you can’t force the update onto your AirPods Pro. You have to wait for it to arrive, download and install itself.
