watchOS 11.1 beta 2 is now available for download for Apple Watch users. It includes a handful of bug fixes.
Apple Releases watchOS 11.1 Beta 2 for Developers, Download it Today
It’s a fun day, because Apple has released a bunch of new betas, including watchOS 11.1 beta 2. If you have been testing the first beta of the new software for quite some time, today is the day you treat yourself to a new update, and here’s how you can install it:
- Place your Apple Watch on the charger and make sure it’s charged beyond the 50% mark.
- Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network.
- Launch the ‘Watch’ app and go to General > Software Update.
- Tap on ‘Update Now’ when watchOS 11.1 beta 2 shows up.
watchOS updates take a while to download and install. Do not take your Apple Watch of its charger while the update is installing. Once done, you can start using your Apple Watch normally.
Also, if you are thinking about giving the update a spin, please know that there is no way to downgrade back to the public build of watchOS 11. In other words, downgrade is not possible at all. Once you upgrade, you’re staying there for good.
It’s a good idea to give this beta update a skip. Apple is expected to release the final version of watchOS 11.1 in October and we are pretty close to the month anyway.
There’s nothing in watchOS 11.1 that justifies leaving the public software for the beta channel. However, what you end up doing is entirely your call. If you love testing out beta software, then today is the day you make that leap.
It would have been interesting if Apple brought some Intelligence features to Apple Watch. Sure, the Apple Watch may not have the ‘processing power’ or ‘memory’ for it, but does it really need it when you are connected to an iPhone that does?
There is a possibility Apple may bring some features to the wrist, but given how limited watchOS is in terms of features anyway, there is a chance Apple may give the whole idea a pass for the foreseeable future.
But hey, there’s no harm in imagining things, right?
