If you’re old, then you know the sensation that is Flappy Bird, and now it is returning to iPhone soon.
The Famous Flappy Bird Game is Returning to iPhone After 10 Years
Flappy Bird was, has been and forever will be a crazy success story on iPhone and App Store. Downloaded more than 50 million times after its release in 2013, the game was an instant hit and extremely addictive because everyone wanted to get that high score in before doing anything else in life.
The developer behind the game, Dong Nguyen, removed the game all of a sudden from the App Store back in 2014 saying it is too addictive and that he does not like the fame and attention he’s getting. He even said he did not plan to bring the game back ever.
Fast forward to this day and the rights to Flappy Bird now lie with someone else – the Flappy Bird Foundation. The new developers plan to launch the game back on iPhone some time in 2025, which is not that far from here. Not only that, the game will be available on the web, too.
You can check out the trailer for it below:
Given the amount of time I’ve spent on Flappy Bird, which is a little too much, I’m excited once again for the game. I can’t wait to mindlessly tap on the iPhone display and create a new high score from time to time.
The Flappy Bird craze really went out of hand after it was removed from the App Store. I still remember people were selling used iPhones on eBay for hundreds of dollars extra because it had Flappy Bird pre-installed. It was one of the craziest things I had seen in my life. And don’t forget the ripoffs that followed, even to this day.
Glad to know the official game is making a return.
