If you are experiencing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular issues after installing iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, try the following fixes.

iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 Causing Issues with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Cellular? Try Some of these Fixes

Whenever a new software update as big as iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 arrives, there are going to be issues, especially if you performed an over the air update. Usually, they aren’t issues at all, just misaligned settings that did not carry forward well from the older firmware.

If you just updated to iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, and are experiencing issues with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular connectivity on both iPhone and iPad, try the following fixes.

Airplane Mode

This is the most basic thing you can do. Toggle Airplane mode off and then back on and see if it helps. Launch the ‘Settings’ app, tap on the ‘Airplane Mode’ toggle switch at the top, wait at least ten seconds and then turn it back on.

Restart Your iPhone or iPad

It is actually quite surprising how many things a simple restart can fix. Launch the ‘Settings’ app, go to General > Shut Down and then slide to power off your iPhone and iPad. Once powered down, press and hold the ‘Power’ button to turn it back on.

Restart the Device Your are Trying to Connect to

There is a chance the device you’re trying to connect to is acting up. Whether it’s your Wi-Fi router or a pair of earbuds, power them off and back again should help. You can also try to forget those devices and connect again. This is obviously not applicable to cellular.

Reset Network Settings

This option usually fixes pretty much everything. But, do keep in mind your iPhone and iPad will forget each and every single Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular setting you may have set manually. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset and then tap on ‘Reset Network Settings.’

Clean Install iOS 18 and iPadOS 18

If nothing helped you out, then you may want to clean install iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Yes, you will lose all your files and settings but a clean slate ensures the best possible performance and the least amount of issues. This is the reason I always go with a clean install rather than an over the air update. It does require a little bit of effort, but it is so, so worth it in the end.
