Instagram is rolling out a massive new feature for its Instagram app – the ability to comment on Stories publicly.
You Can Now Leave Comments on Instagram Stories Publicly – Feature Rolling Out to Everyone
Stories is a fantastic way to share something with fans and followers for 24 hours. When time’s up, you can either pin the Story to your profile or just leave it in the abyss, never to be seen again. It’s completely personal, too – whenever someone comments on a Story, no-one gets to see it either as it is sent as a personal message, including reactions.
However, with the latest announcement from Instagram, all of that is about to change as people will now be able to comment on Stories publicly, just like a regular post on the social network. Of course, you can opt out of it and disable comments completely.
However, there are a couple of things you should know. First of all, only those people can comment who follow you and you follow back. Secondly, if a person does not follow you, they cannot see Instagram Story comments at all. Again, you can disable comments for Stories, if you so choose.
I believe this is a fantastic feature and one which should have been rolled out a long time back. It gives creators a way to interact with their fans and increase engagement on a more personal level.
