Apple Releases iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 Public Beta 2 with Apple Intelligence for Download, Update Today

Apple released iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta 5 yesterday for developers with a bunch of new changes. Today, the same beta is now available for public beta testers.

In order to download and install iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 public beta 2, these are the steps you need to follow, provided you have public beta 1 already installed:

  • Connect to Wi-Fi and make sure your iPhone and iPad has 50% or more battery life remaining.
  • Launch the ‘Settings’ app.
  • Navigate to General > Software Update.
  • Tap on ‘Update Now’ when the new 18.1 public beta shows up.

The entire update may take just a few minutes at best to install. Once installed, you can start enjoying the bug fixes and changes which Apple brought to the table with the developer beta yesterday.

If you want to test out the public beta on your iPhone or iPad, you can do it as long as you have a device that can run iOS 18.0 and iPadOS 18.0. If your device isn’t compatible with Apple Intelligence, you won’t be able to test out the new AI features. If it is, then you’ll be enjoying features like Writing Tools.

In order to get started, just go to beta.apple.com, sign up using your Apple Account at this link. Once done, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and enable the public beta option. Go back a page and the update will show right up for download.

Devices that do not get Apple Intelligence will definitely get a lot of bug fixes and performance related enhancements. Of course, you can expect some security related updates as well, something that’s a given at this point.

The full and final version of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 is expected to be released in October. This is one update I’m sure iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro users must be eager to get their hands on.

We have waited this long, September is about to end, October is nearly here, it’s going to be an exciting end of the year.
