Well, you can put a lid on the iPad mini 7 for a while as it won’t be a part of any announcement next week.
Apple’s New iPad mini 7 is Going to be Announced Alongside New M4 Mac Lineup in October
However, according to Mark Gurman, the tablet is going to be announced in October. Apple is going to hold a special event during that month where it will announce the new iPad mini and a bunch of new M4 Macs as well.
A previous report said Apple is going to announce everything in October and launch all of the announced hardware in November.
When it comes to the new M4 Mac lineup, Apple is expected to announce the M4 MacBook Pro, M4 Mac mini and a M4 iMac. The Mac mini is a particularly interesting device as it is said to be way smaller, almost the size of Apple TV.
Coming back to the iPad mini 7, not much details are available on the tablet. However, we can rest assure that it will get a memory bump to 8GB which will enable Apple Intelligence features.
In terms of power, the iPad mini remains behind the curve in terms of its processing prowess. I will be extremely surprised if the chip that powers the iPad mini is nothing less than the M2 this time around. If Apple manages to pull this off, it’s going to be the wildest upgrade to the iPad mini ever.
I don’t expect Apple to change the shape of the tablet either. The current redesign is absolutely perfect. It’s pocketable, fits in one hand, and has all the necessary connectivity features.
However, there is one change I am definitely expecting – the FaceTime camera moving from the top to the landscape bezel. Apple has done it in every single iPad so far, leaving the iPad mini 7 out of it won’t make much sense.
Last but not the least, it remains to be seen if Apple Pencil Pro support will be added to the tablet or not.
