As expected, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max all feature 8GB of RAM.
No matter Which iPhone 16 Model You Buy, 8GB of RAM Comes as Standard for Apple Intelligence
This requirement is a must given the smartphones need this much memory to run Apple Intelligence. This information was obtained from the latest version of Xcode by MacRumors.
For some reason, I had a hunch that iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro may have slightly more RAM for an extra performance advantage. Interestingly enough, the Pro models do get a performance advantage from the A18 Pro chip, but not extra RAM. Apple saw it fit to keep the amount of RAM same over last year but added 2GB extra in the standard lineup, bringing it up to 8GB across the board.
When it comes to iPad Pro, you’ll be surprised to learn that Apple actually gives you more RAM when you pay more money. Just bump the storage to 1TB or 2TB and Apple throws in 16GB of RAM as well. Though the extra RAM in iPad Pro does not translate to extra performance in daily tasks, but hey, it’s still extra RAM. It would’ve been nice if the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max shipped with at least 10GB of memory.
A recent rumor says Apple is going to bump up the RAM on iPhone 17 Pro Max to 12GB. How the company wants to use that much money is anyone’s guess, but if you are looking forward to an iPhone with extra memory, it’s coming next year.
