New leaked details suggest Apple’s official cases for the iPhone 16 won’t have a cutout for the rumored Capture button.
Apple’s iPhone 16 will Include the Capture Button but the Official Case Won’t have a Cutout for it
This is a very, very interesting detail because when rumor about the Capture button started, it was believed to be a physical button. Now, it is clear that it is capacitive. Details shared on X by a leaker suggests that the cutout for the button is not included in official Apple cases which means the functionality will remain unaffected.
A capacitive button means it will be able to do a bunch of things. One of the rumored functions include the ability to swipe on the button to zoom in and out. Half pressing the button will lock focus and deep pressing it will take a photo. Despite not having a cutout for this button or ‘capacitive area’ on the iPhone, it will work just fine with the official case.
If you go through the number of cases that are already floating around on the web, some even on sale, the cutout is there. Though it’s not necessary, it seems.
Rumors also suggest that the Capture button is going to be exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro models and not iPhone 16. However, numerous leaked cases show the cutout on the iPhone 16. With just a few days to go until the official announcement, I would happily discount all these rumors and just wait for the real thing instead.
The thing you should care about is the new A18 chip that will power every single iPhone 16 across the board. The 8GB of RAM (minimum) ensures Apple Intelligence features. There’s a brand new Gold Titanium color option, too. The smaller iPhone 16 Pro will also get 5x telephoto lens as the Pro Max and so on. These are the things we should care about the most.
Everything else is going to unpack itself on Monday.
