Apple has bumped up the price of battery replacement for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max Battery Replacement will Cost $119, 20% More Compared to iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
In a very unusual but somewhat expected move, Apple is going to charge a little extra if you want to have your iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max battery replaced. According to Apple’s website, via MacRumors, the price for replacement now stands at $119.
If you own an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple is going to charge you $99 only, a fee Apple has been charging for quite some time now. However, if you own the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus, Apple is going to charge you $99, not $119 like the Pro lineup.
It seems as though the Pro phone is going to command Pro service pricing, too.
Again, this move from Apple is not strange at all. Battery replacements used to cost $69 just a while back and that price has only gone up with time. And given that the replacement only costs $119 for a genuine part installed by Apple itself, it’s not a bad deal either. Take it from someone who has heard a lot of horror stories about third-party battery replacements for cheap and how they mostly ended up being unreliable.
With iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, Apple has apparently made battery replacements easier. If that’s the case, doesn’t that mean the price should stay the same or maybe come down a little? Both didn’t happen, for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, at least.
If you want to really secure your iPhone in the long run, especially if you plan to keep it with you for more than 2 years, I suggest getting AppleCare+. Sure, it’s a little extra money, but battery replacements are free as soon as battery heath dips below the 80% mark.
