It’s official, Apple has a bunch of Mac-related announcement to make, definitely surrounding the new M4 chip.
Apple to Announce New M4 Macs Next Week, SVP Marketing Posts Teaser on Social Media
Apple Senior Vice President Marketing Greg Joswiak just posted a teaser on X which confirms one thing – the company has a bunch of Mac-related announcements to make next week.
The interesting thing here is, the company says it has an ‘exciting week of announcements… starting Monday morning.’ This rules out the possibility of a proper event and it seems as though there are going to be press releases for the announcements Apple is planning to make.
It’s clear the company is going to announce the newest lineup of Macs powered by the M4 chip. Everyone is expecting an upgraded M4 MacBook Pro which was leaked to shreds just a while back.
The company is also expected to announce the M4 iMac and a thoroughly redesigned M4 Mac mini. The latter is definitely going to be a huge highlight next week.
A few days back it came to our attention that Apple may even announce new USB-C accessories for the Mac, including the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and the Magic Trackpad. That’s about it, no new design or anything which is fine.
Apple is also expected to end the 8GB RAM tier and start directly at 16GB which makes perfect sense in 2024. Apps are getting more demanding and AI-powered tasks require a lot of firepower to function, but at the same time, it will be interesting to see how 8GB RAM Macs perform in day-to-day tasks that involve Apple Intelligence.
The real test begins next week when Apple Intelligence official rolls out to the public and gets field-tested by real people with real workloads.
Speaking of which, Apple is definitely going to focus on Apple Intelligence next week, just like how it did with the iPad mini 7 announcement. Because, honestly, apart from the chip upgrade, the MacBook Pro and iMac are going to be exactly the same. The thing where Apple can make these new computers look good is with AI.
As for the new M4 Mac mini, I hope Apple gives it the proper announcement it deserves. I believe the Mac mini is a very underrated computer that deserves more attention.
