The rumored Apple smart home display will have a design similar to the iMac G4 which is a nice throwback to an iconic computer.
Upcoming Smart Home Display from Apple will have an iMac G4 Style Design with a Square Display
We get to hear about Apple’s smart home display on an almost-weekly basis at this point, thanks to Mark Gurman. The man has jumped in once again with more details regarding the device and my mind is stuck on just one detail and that’s the design.
The smart home display will look like the iMac G4 which is an extremely iconic computer from Apple. According to Mark, the device will have a speaker in the base. If the HomePod mini is anything to go by, we can expect the speaker to sound very good, too.
The display will be square and small, something which we have heard perviously already. Whereas on the software side, the device will run homeOS and will have apps for FaceTime, Notes, Calendar and more.
In fact, the display is going to be very small. It’s said to be as big as two iPhones next to each other. That’s quite small. But, at the same time it means the device is going to be cheap and the report says it definitely will be.
It will be cheap enough that buyers will be able to buy several of these and spread it across their home.
Though the device is said to include the A18 chip, I’m confused how the smart display will tap into Apple Intelligence. Things like Writing Tools, Image Playground and Genmoji can be immediately ignored. However, a smarter Siri with ChatGPT support can be a huge selling point here.
The smart display is set for release early next year.
