Apple has just released iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 beta 1 with new Apple Intelligence features for download.

With iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 set for release next with the first wave of Apple Intelligence features, Apple has released the first beta of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 with the second wave of AI features.

The new beta includes the much-awaited ChatGPT integration with Siri. You also get the new Genmoji feature as well as Image Playground, allowing you to generate custom images using prompts.

However, one of the biggest updates is the inclusion of Vision Intelligence for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro users. Once fired up, you can just point your camera at anything and the iPhone will tell you all the details you need to know about the object.

If you are registered with Apple as a developer, you can just enable the iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 beta by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. Once the developer beta is turned on, the new iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 beta 1 will become available to download and install over the air.

Since this is the first beta of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, therefore proceed with caution. Chances are high the update is going to be a little rough around certain corners and features may not work perfectly.

It’s best to download and install the update on a spare device, if you have one lying around. Also, the same Apple Intelligence requirements apply if you want to test out the beta. If you don’t have a compatible iPhone or iPad, you can’t use Apple Intelligence features. I’m sure you already knew that.

Given this is the first beta of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, it’s going to be a while the final version becomes available for download. But, the thing that makes me happy the most is how quickly Apple is working on this stuff. I expected the company to release the beta after iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 was rolled out to everyone. Clearly, I was wrong.

I’m going to do a list of all the things that are new in this update, make sure you are on a lookout for that.
