Want Apple Intelligence features using third-party apps on your iPhone and iPad? Here’s what you have to download.
Get the Best Apple Intelligence Features on Your iPhone and iPad Using Third-Party Apps for Free
Apple Intelligence is just around the corner. If you have an iPhone 15 Pro and up, an iPad with the M-series chip, you’ll be getting everything Apple announced at WWDC 2024.
If you have an unsupported device, then you’ll miss out on a lot of things. Or, will you? Because, everything that’s coming to Apple Intelligence can be had right now using third-party apps.
Alternative for Writing Tools
Apple talked about Writing Tools a lot. You can just type in text and Apple Intelligence will proofread it for you, make it professional, concise, change the tone and more.
However, you can use a couple of apps that let you do the same thing – ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
Once downloaded and installed, you can either use ChatGPT or Gemini AI within the Google app to proofread and improve the text you are working on. It’s all about using the correct prompts to get things done such as ‘proofread this for me and make it professional and concise.’
Both ChatGPT and Gemini work fine for this and it boils down to personal preference which one you want to use.
Image Playground Alternative
Image Playground is a key feature of Apple Intelligence that is coming later in an iOS and iPadOS update. However, you can generate images using AI right now using several ways. I’m only going to talk about the ones that are absolutely free – Microsoft Copilot and Meta AI.
All you have to do is sign in using your Microsoft Account and you’ll be using AI and creating images in no time. On the other hand, you can use Meta apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram to access Meta AI as well or just visit the meta.ai website if you don’t want to install an app and do everything in a web browser.
I will suggest using Meta AI for generating images since you probably have WhatsApp installed. You can also use Meta AI for other things such as proofreading text as well.
Alternative to the Improved Siri and Chatbot
A new and improved Siri is coming to iOS and iPadOS, allowing you to talk to it as you would talk to another human. However, using the ChatGPT app, you can do the same thing with the Advanced Voice Mode. In fact, it’s so good, you’ll start to think you’re talking to a real person.
However, you can only use the Advanced Voice Mode for a limited period of time every month unless you pay for it. Secondly, it does not tap into your iPhone and iPad for things like setting an alarm, searching through emails and more. It’s a limitation set by Apple and there’s no way around it either.
You can always use ChatGPT as a chatbot whenever you feel like it by typing away on that keyboard. Ask anything at all and you’ll get your answers instantly. Alternatively, you can use Gemini as a chatbot, too, if you’re well invested into the Google ecosystem in some way.
Conclusion
To be honest, you only need a few apps to get most of what Apple Intelligence will bring to iPhone and iPad. Sure, third-party apps don’t work the same way as Apple Intelligence that taps into the entire software to work seamlessly, but hey, it’s better than not having no AI at all.
