So much great stuff was announced this week, but my favorite one was the M4 iMac.
iMac Remains the Best Home Computer Apple Makes to Date and M4 Model Makes Things Even Better
The Mac mini was the biggest change in the Mac lineup this week. With its brand-new design, amazing hardware, and capabilities, it’s truly the best Mac for people who want to get on board the Apple ecosystem.
However, it’s the iMac that grabbed my attention the most and you should take note of it, too.
I currently own the M1 iMac, and it’s fantastic. Even with Apple Intelligence, it’s fast as ever, and I don’t want to upgrade it to something new. Because, for the work I’m doing on it, it works fine.
But, the M4 iMac really has my attention. It’s the best computer Apple has ever made for those who truly want to experience the best Cupertino has to offer from the Mac lineup on a big screen.
Starting with the display, the 4.5K Retina display will forever stay stunning for every single thing you do on it. Whether you’re creating content or consuming it, it’s sharp, it’s bright, and it’s perfect for every single thing you have in mind.
Now that it supports multiple external displays, the possibilities suddenly get bigger, too.
The M4 chip ensures a great level of performance, but I do wish Apple took things further by offering the M4 Pro chip upgrade for the iMac. Currently, Apple only sells an all-in-one desktop with its base chip, which is somewhat strange.
Finally, you only have to connect a single cable to get the whole thing up and running, since the keyboard and mouse are wireless. It’s the level of convenience the iMac delivers that remains unmatched to this day.
Something about having a large Mac just feels right. Sure, having a great MacBook can sometimes be beneficial, especially if portability is at the top of your list, but have you ever seen macOS on a big screen? Walk into your favorite Apple reseller’s store and just have one look at it.
I know the MacBook Pro with M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max is simply amazing, but they’re not for me – I’m more of an iMac and MacBook Air guy. I don’t need that extra performance at all. It will be wasted on me. The sooner you realize that’s the case for you as well, the easier your buying decision will get.
If there’s one thing I don’t like doing, it’s piecing stuff together. That’s the reason I gave up on my M2 Mac mini. I was just one Studio Display away from making the ultimate Mac setup, but it wouldn’t beat the iMac, and definitely not the M4 model.
With those cables going from one part to the other, I just didn’t want to proceed further at all.
If you are looking to buy one thing from this week’s announcement, keep the iMac at the top of the list, especially if you haven’t owned one in your life. A larger display filled with macOS gives you a ton of room to get things done.
