Apple has just released a brand new firmware 6F21 for select AirPods models including the original AirPods Pro.
Apple is Rolling Out Firmware 6F21 for AirPods Pro 1, AirPods 2, AirPods 3 and AirPods Max with Lightning
The new firmware is available for the first-generation AirPods Pro, second-generation AirPods, third-generation AirPods and the Lightning AirPods Max.
Previously, these devices were running firmware version 6A326 and the new update should start to arrive on your device on its own. I say ‘on its own’ because there’s no way to force updates on AirPods at all.
Given that this update is available for older AirPods only, it’s safe to assume it’s nothing more than a bug-fix release which is always nice to have.
I want my AirPods connecting and switching between devices at the best-possible speeds and such updates promise that.
You can check right now if the new firmware update has been rolled out for you and downloaded. Simply connect your AirPods to your iPhone and iPad, launch the ‘Settings’ app, tap on the ‘AirPods’ option at the top, scroll all the way down and check firmware version.
