Though a lot of coffee outlets shut down from time to time, but this Starbucks was special among fans.

Starbucks at 120 4th St. is Shutting Down – the Same One Steve Jobs Called for 4,000 Lattes

Back in 2007, Steve Jobs announced the first-ever iPhone to the world at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. It was the most exciting moment in tech – the smartphone industry was forever changed.

During the keynote, Steve Jobs was thoroughly demoing the iPhone, and more specifically, the Maps app (powered by Google Maps at the time). While showing places around Maps, Steve Jobs found a Starbucks nearby and decided to call it right from the iPhone.

The phone rang, someone answered, and Steve Jobs said: “I’d like to order 4,000 lattes to go, please.”

That Starbucks location, at 120 4th St., is shutting down after 30 years. The store will end operations completely on the 8th of November, according to SFGate.

Sure, no big deal – you’ll see franchises and stores shut down from time to time. But, this one’s definitely special. It ties with the first-ever iPhone announcement. It was the phone call that got a huge laugh from the audience and Steve Jobs got a kick out of it, too.

Given how early the iPhone was in prototype stages, a complete failure was expected. However, that call went through successfully and became one of the most iconic moments in iPhone history.
