Apple Pulls Off a Magic Mouse and Puts the Power Button Underneath the New Mac mini
You think the Magic Mouse’s charging port was a strange design choice? It has a new competitor in town and Apple announced it just a while back – the Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro.
While this new Mac mini is wicked fast and packed with too much power, I just noticed where the power button is. On the older model, it’s behind the Mac mini. The new one has the power button underneath it.
I can easily defend the Magic Mouse’s Lightning and USB-C port placement. But, the power button placement on the new Mac mini is very strange.
See, the thing is, most people are going to try to hide the Mac mini away for a clean desk setup yet keep it open enough to reach the ports at the back and front.
If you can reach the port, you can reach the power button, too. Only if the power button was at the back.
Instead, Apple wants you to lift the Mac mini up, press the power button and then start using it. It’s either that, or you keep the Mac mini turned on for extended periods of time.
