A nifty little free app ensures you do not accidentally press any key while cleaning your MacBook keyboard.
Cleaning Your MacBook Keyboard Can be Tricky, but this Free App Locks Down the Keyboard so You Can Wipe Away Easily
Cleaning an iMac keyboard is pretty easy. You turn off the keyboard, give it a good wipe with a microfiber cloth along with a certified cleaning agent and you’re done.
On a MacBook, things are very tricky. See, the thing is, you can’t turn off the keyboard. Even if you power down your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, the chances of accidentally turning the MacBook on are high.
If the MacBook is already turned on and you start wiping away the gunk, you are going to randomly press so many keys, you’ll probably change a few settings in macOS accidentally.
In other words, cleaning a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro keyboard is a tough job.
Believe it or not, there is an app that actually locks down the keyboard while you do the cleaning. It’s absolutely free, too.
Called KeyboardCleanTool, you can download it from here. Once installed, all it takes is a single click to lock the keyboard, allowing you to clean it up and then unlock it again. No need to worry about pressing anything.
Apart from its usefulness when cleaning the keyboard, this app can actually be useful in other ways, too. For example, you can hand over your MacBook to your kid, lock the keyboard down so that they can pretend to type however they like.
Not convinced? You can use this app to ensure you do not accidentally press a key while you have something important running on your MacBook. Or, make sure someone else doesn’t press a key while you are away, too.
However you end up using this app, you now know about its existence. It’s definitely useful when cleaning the keyboard and there is no way I wasn’t going to share this with my readers.
I really hope you find it useful.
