Apple is set to release AirTag 2 next year, with improvements that will make the item tracker way better than before.

AirTag 2 Set for Release Next Year with Improvements to Wireless Chip, Range and Privacy

AirTag is one of the best products Apple has made in a long time. Just one look at it, and you start to wonder how the company can improve it further.

Turns out, there’s plenty of room for improvement, and it’s going to happen next year.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is going to release the AirTag 2 next year with a bunch of new features.

First of all, Apple is going to utilize a second-generation UWB (Ultra Wideband) chip in the AirTag 2.

This chip made its debut with the iPhone 15 lineup last year, and it only makes sense that Apple would bring it to the new AirTag.

With the new chip in place, users can expect an improvement in range and accuracy of the new AirTag.

Features like Precision Finding should work flawlessly, and if you’re using the AirTag inside a wallet, that extra range is definitely going to come in handy.

Last but not least, Apple is designing the new AirTag in such a way that the speaker is going to be extremely hard to remove.

Apple wants to do this because there have been reports where the AirTag was used to stalk people, and the speaker was removed so that it couldn’t be tracked or found at all.

If Apple designs the new AirTag in such a way that removing the speaker means the entire device would become useless, I’m all for it.

As someone who uses the AirTag on a daily basis, I am really hyped about this.

In the same report, Mark Gurman says that Apple is working on its own TV set as well. This will be a huge step in streamlining the overall experience since Apple will have complete control over hardware and software.
