The OLED MacBook Pro is coming, and Apple has asked its suppliers to make preparations for larger panels for laptops.
Apple Asks its Display Suppliers to Invest More in Larger OLED Panels Suitable for Devices like MacBook Pro
Apple is already asking its display suppliers to invest more in manufacturing larger OLED panels that are suited for laptops, or more specifically, the MacBook Pro.
The revelation comes from a press release sent out by TrendForce.
The revamped MacBook Pro has been on the cards for quite some time now. Instead of sticking around with Mini LED, Apple is going to make a jump towards OLED with the M6 lineup.
Rumors do say Apple is going to rehash the current MacBook Pro next year when the M5 chip comes out, and it won’t be the big upgrade people are hoping it to be.
Another interesting thing to note is this: Apple is considering an OLED MacBook Air as well. However, a recent report suggests that it has been delayed beyond 2027 due to the high manufacturing cost of OLED panels.
An OLED MacBook Pro makes more sense than any other MacBook since it needs that color-accurate and brighter display. It will be the perfect thing to have around if your workflow involves work that requires color accuracy.
However, the M4 MacBook Pro does offer a slight upgrade for buyers with the introduction of Quantum Dot technology. This improves color accuracy and motion performance.
This is an upgrade enough to keep people hooked to the current lineup until bigger changes can be rolled out.
But, the funny thing is, Apple hasn’t advertised this change at all. It didn’t talk about it at the launch of the new lineup one bit. I’m sure the company will have a lot to say when it switches to OLED.
