According to a fresh new report, Apple is working on a smarter version of its assistant called ‘LLM Siri.’
Apple is Ready to Take Siri to the Next Level by Giving it Advanced Capabilities Next Year
Of course, ‘LLM Siri’ is not the actual name. It’s the name given to it internally, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Even though the current version of Siri is powered by Apple Intelligence, Apple still relies on ChatGPT for more advanced queries. The company wants its own personal assistant to do as good as OpenAI’s solution.
The goal is to create a personal assistant that is able to compete with existing chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Meta AI, and so on. But, at the time of writing, Apple is far behind them all.
While the big update to Siri is rumored to be unveiled next year as part of iOS 19 and macOS 16, it is likely that Apple might not launch it before Spring 2026.
It’s no secret that Apple is late to the AI game though it has been working on machine learning and artificial intelligence for a long time.
No matter how you slice it, Apple wants to get things right rather than have everything fall apart. And as someone who has been skeptical about AI since day one, I have started to have some thoughts about the whole thing.
I like Apple’s approach to AI. It deeply integrates into its platforms in a meaningful way rather than have a sandboxed chatbot that answers all your questions.
Another thing that’s interesting is how Apple is releasing its AI features in waves rather than toss everything in one go and see what sticks.
The first wave of features that were a part of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 have been pretty useful. I wouldn’t be truthful if I said I’m not using those features in my daily life. In fact, I use them way too much.
